Mobility

The focus of this work package was to explore and critically discuss potential mobility futures.

Growth in demand for freight and passenger transport and GDP-growth has historically had close correlation but recent research point out that the current mobility system is declining in performance socially and economically, and with rising supplying costs.

The work package investigated how mobility can be organized in alternative ways for the promotion of social and environmental sustainable lifestyles in line with the scenarios. This was done through literature reviews and Swedish case studies covering urban planning on different scales, from city district, to municipal, to regional scale.

The work package was led by Åsa Aretun, VTI.
